Jr. Lending Officer

Summary of position: Key job functions: (Includes current duties, primary objectives, and responsibilities which are critical to the successful performance of the position.)The Jr. Lending Officer follows established procedures to plan, direct and organize sales and operational activities of the branch. Scope of responsibility will include maintaining and developing commercial and consumer customer’s accounts including loan, deposit, treasury, and other relevant bank offered products in a safe, legal, and profitable manner. The Jr. Lending Officer is responsible for providing support, guidance and training to branch staff specific to their lending role.Key job functions: (Includes current duties, primary objectives, and responsibilities which are critical to the successful performance of the position)Develop new outside business; oversee and ensure sales of new and existing business inside the branch and promote new sales generation outside the branchMaintain an in-depth working knowledge of all products, servicing, equipment, internal controls and policy & proceduresCollaborate with Senior Loan Officers and other team members to streamline the overall loan processRecommend credit decisions on loans over assigned limits to appropriate level of managementApprove or deny loans within established credit linesConsistently promotes the Bank in a positive manner to community, customers, and staffProvide leadership, coaching and mentoring to branch staffServe as liaison between the branch and local managementAssist in formulating recommendations for staffing and budgetary needsParticipate in bank sponsored functions, as requiredParticipate in weekly loan meetings either in person or by teleconferenceAttend branch meetings and any other pertinent meetings of the job role.Continuously improve your knowledge of lending practices and industry trends through training and professional development opportunities.Other duties as assignedQualificationsStrong analytical and business judgment skillsAbove average communication skills, including written, verbal, and coachingKnowledge and demonstrated proficiency of bank products and servicesPrevious experience in developing and managing a commercial loan portfolio – preferredEducation And ExperienceBachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in Business, Finance or Accounting – preferred.3 plus years lending experience or similar role.Advanced knowledge of bank compliance regulations, policies and proceduresPhysical Demands: These physical demands are generally representative of the position.Hearing, speech, close visionSitting, including computer useDriving with own transportation to other branches for meetings/workshopsOn occasions, may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 poundsJob responsibilities may include standing, walking, lifting, kneeling, and crouchingSovereign Bank is an Equal Opportunity EmployerNOTE: Sovereign Bank does not accept unsolicited resumes through or from search firms or staffing agencies.
