Director of SalesPosition SummaryThe Director of Sales is responsible for leading all aspects of store sales performance, team development, operational execution, and showroom presentation within the retail furniture environment. This role serves as the primary sales leader for the location and is accountable for driving revenue growth, increasing profitability, developing high-performing sales professionals, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.The Director of Sales will oversee daily store operations with a strong focus on sales leadership, accountability, talent development, merchandising execution, and strategic business planning. This position is designed to function similarly to a traditional furniture store manager role while emphasizing sales culture and performance leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesSales Leadership & Business PerformanceDrive overall store sales volume, average ticket, protection sales, financing penetration, and profitability goalsMonitor and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance metricsDevelop and execute action plans to achieve company sales objectives and KPI targetsCoach and motivate the sales team to improve closing performance, customer engagement, and product knowledgeLead by example through professional selling behaviors and customer interactionsConduct regular sales meetings, performance reviews, and one-on-one coaching sessionsTeam Development & AccountabilityRecruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain top sales talentEstablish clear performance expectations and maintain accountability across the sales teamCreate individualized development plans to improve employee growth and performanceFoster a positive, high-energy, customer-focused sales cultureAddress performance concerns promptly and professionally through coaching and corrective action when necessaryMaintain staffing levels that support business needs and customer experience standards Merchandising & Showroom ManagementEnsure the showroom reflects company merchandising standards and brand presentation expectationsMerchandise the sales floor to highlight best-selling products, key promotions, and lifestyle presentationsMaintain strong showroom flow, product placement, signage, and visual appealPartner with ownership and leadership teams on floor resets, new product placement, and seasonal updatesMonitor inventory presentation and identify opportunities to improve floor productivityOperations & Customer ExperienceOversee daily store operations to ensure efficiency and operational excellenceEnsure customers receive a seamless and professional shopping experience from initial greeting through delivery follow-upSupport resolution of customer service concerns and escalations when neededMaintain compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and safety standardsCollaborate with service, distribution, and administrative teams to support overall business performanceQualificationsMinimum 3–5 years of retail sales management experienceProven track record of driving sales growth and leading high-performing teamsStrong leadership, coaching, and communication skillsExperience recruiting, training, and developing sales professionalsUnderstanding of retail KPIs, P&L awareness, and sales reportingStrong merchandising and showroom presentation skillsAbility to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced retail environmentProficient in Microsoft Office and retail sales systemsPerformance ExpectationsThe Director of Sales will be evaluated on:Sales volume growthAverage ticket performanceTeam productivity and retentionCustomer satisfactionMerchandising executionAchievement of store KPI goalsOverall store profitability and operational performanceWork EnvironmentRetail showroom environmentWeekends, evenings, and holidays required based on business needsAbility to stand and move throughout the showroom for extended periodsPosition ObjectiveThe Director of Sales is expected to lead the store as a business owner mindset leader — driving sales, developing talent, maintaining operational excellence, and creating an engaging customer experience that supports long-term business growth and brand success.Benefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee discountHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceWork Location: In personCompensation: $90,000 - $140,000 / year
