Senior / Staff Software Engineer — InfraLocation: New York City or San FranciscoWork Policy: Hybrid (Minimum 3 Days In-Office)Compensation: $211k – $248k Base + Competitive EquityAbout the RoleA rapidly scaling enterprise AI company used by major healthcare systems is hiring Senior / Staff Infrastructure Engineers to help scale the core platform powering millions of real-world interactions each month.The engineering organization is entering a hyperscale phase, and this role focuses on improving performance, reliability, and scalability across distributed systems.This position sits at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure, with the work split roughly 80% software development and 20% infrastructure.Engineers in this role partner closely with product and platform teams to improve system performance, evolve infrastructure architecture, and enable teams to ship faster as platform adoption continues to grow.What You'll DoImprove system performance and latency using profiling, load testing, and observability toolingIdentify bottlenecks in distributed systems and implement scalability improvements at the application levelDrive architectural changes that migrate services to more scalable infrastructure (event-driven systems, improved runtimes, optimized databases)Build internal tools that increase engineering velocity and developer productivityHelp product teams adopt scalable infrastructure patterns and platform toolingEstablish and enforce SLOs, error budgets, and reliability standards across servicesImprove incident response through better monitoring, runbooks, and operational toolingEvangelize cloud-native architecture and distributed systems best practices internallyWho You Are5–10 years of backend or infrastructure software engineering experienceStrong experience building or operating distributed systems at production scaleTrack record of improving system performance, reliability, and scalabilityExperience working in high-growth technology environments or high-scale engineering organizationsStrong coding ability in Python or TypeScriptExperience working with cloud infrastructure and containerized systemsStrong system design skills and ability to collaborate across teamsInterest in platform engineering, infrastructure tooling, and engineering enablementBased in or willing to work in-person 3 days per week in NYC or San FranciscoTech StackKubernetesTerraformGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP)PythonTypeScriptDatadog / GrafanaThe team is actively scaling infrastructure and hiring multiple engineers with an accelerated interview process.
