What you'll be doing:
Process, review, and complete (New Product Orders), (Samples), (Quotes), (Problem Reports) and all related documentation related to such items. May involve working with both manufacturing and/or outside vendors form production of products.
Confers with Engineering and Plant personnel to resolve design problems related to product and/or tooling design. Includes material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, tool-life issues, manufacturing procedures, etc.
Participates in Quality Planning as outlined in the Engineering Procedures.
Develops new and/or improved manufacturing processes including product design, tooling design, machine design/modifications, processing/routing, and working with operators.
Applies standard tool engineering data such as material requirements, space utilization, stress analysis, machinability/formability, etc. to develop or improve tooling configurations.
Develops programs for computer numerical control (CNC) equipment required to machine or process various products. Observes and verifies machining efficiency and works with manufacturing to streamline the process.
Provides design/modifications for machine design applications.
Provides the design and detailing of production tooling, makes required revisions to existing drawings, and maintains accurate and up to date documentation for all tooling drawing, product drawings, and other process information. May also drive the requisition and purchasing process as it relates to tooling produced both internally and externally.
May be assigned to work with or direct the Engineer Intern/Temp and/or Associate Engineer for specific projects and/or general work related areas.
This position will be responsible for relaying project/process information to the Chief Engineer and providing any information relating to delays, problems, etc. which may affect the successful and timely completion of job assignments.
Utilizes available software tools to assist in design and/or communication.
May assist in the training of new Engineering Department personnel. Provides guidance to Design Engineering in cooperative project efforts.
Additional Qualifications:
CAD skills for drafting/detailing/design are required
An Associates or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering with three (3) years of engineering work experience or equivalent (or other related specialty program deemed a qualification by Luvata management) required.
