Join us!Job SummaryThe Technical Training Officer, Engineering, Signals and Communications (S&C) is responsible for training S&C employees through the entire Apprenticeship Training Program and Communication Technician Programs, as well as providing updates and refresher trainings to existing employees. The incumbent is required to train, mentor, coach and qualify employees on various S&C techniques. Additional tasks include maintaining training facility equipment, job aids and scheduled maintenance records. Main Responsibilities Training Delivery Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the creation and update of training materialsProvide training to employees through classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations and training exercisesMaintain an understanding of how to practically apply skills related to S&C equipmentEvaluate trainees’ ability to demonstrate tasks proficiencyAdminister and grade examsComplete performance and qualifying documents and ensure all training events are collected in the Learning Management System (LMS)Carry out other engineering-related training as needed Maintain and Upgrade Facility Equipment Assess functionality of laboratory equipment prior to trainingRepair all malfunctioning laboratory equipment Develop Comprehensive Training Plan Collaborate with Managers and Senior Managers to resolve and identify functional training needsDevelop training delivery planEstablish training delivery schedule designed to meet training needs Working Conditions The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday, with possibility of occasional weekend or off-shift training. The role requires minimal travel (20%) to carry out field training and quality audits.Requirements Requirements Experience Signals & CommunicationsBetween 5 to 10 years of S&C experienceoExperience as a Signal or Communication Supervisor*Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset Education/Certification/Designation High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)Qualified as an S&C Maintainer or Communication TechnicianValid Driver’s LicenceAny additional education in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or other related field such as Physics or Mathematics*Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset Competencies Leads by example for the safety and security of allConsiders environmental impacts in every action and decisionCollaborates with others and shares informationPromotes equity and diversitySets direction and inspires othersCommunicates with impactProvides recognitionDevelops self and othersKnows the business and stays current on industry needsTechnical Skills/KnowledgeStrong knowledge of CN’s S&C department and field operationsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Advanced communication skills in English (written and verbal)Knowledge of Systems Applications and Products (SAP) as well as Signals & Communications Inspection System (SCIS)*Proficient in Learning Management Systems (LMS)*Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an assetAbout CNCN is a world-class transportation leader and trade-enabler.
