Embedded Systems Engineer

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS ENGINEER ReSuture is seeking a skilled and focused candidate to design, develop, produce, and test embedded systems. The engineer will be responsible for working with a cross disciplinary team to design, test, and implement a radar system to capture surgical movement data. Currently, this concept is still in the early design phase so the candidate will be responsible for carrying this project from ideation to completion. The selected candidate will collaborate with hardware and electrical engineers, and will be responsible for leading software and algorithm development. The individual will also be responsible for communicating and collaborating with a machine learning lab at Arizona State University. The selected candidate will also be responsible for collecting, processing, and visualizing data collected from the radar sensors. JOB SUMMARY The Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible for software and algorithm development as it relates to a radar sensing system to capture movement data of a surgeon’s hands. This system will ultimately be implemented with ReSuture’s commercial products and will be designed to function with existing hardware systems. The engineer will manage this project, serving as lead of embedded systems, and will be expected to work well independently. Prior experience with data processing and visualization is preferred. The candidate must be self-driven and will be expected to problem-solve independently. The candidate will be eligible for a senior-level position within the company dependent on successful completion of deliverables. To be successful in this role, the individual should be proficient in Python, C, and/or C++ and should be highly self-motivated. RESPONSIBILITIES Design, develop, test, and produce algorithms to process, analyze, and visualize motion data collected from radar sensors. Develop software to implement with hardware and electrical sensor systems. Generate reports/presentations detailing design decisions and recommendations. Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem-solving techniques. Communicate with electrical and hardware engineers. Perform technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems. Maintain technical documentation for all development activities. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in accordance with industry best practices. Collaborate and communicate with engineers at machine learning lab. REQUIREMENTS 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software engineering, specifically in the electrical sensors domain. Experience with OS design, data science, data analytic tools, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI). Proficient in programming languages C, Python, and C++ for embedded software. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to develop creative solutions. Creative problem-solving and the ability to tackle unique, complex projects. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field.
