Read more about the day-to-day responsibilities of our Accounting Associate below!Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Sr. Accounting Associate to join our Family Office team. This individual will be a key team member responsible for the daily accounting and operations for a portfolio of assigned families and/or engagements. If you have the skillset and experience needed for the role, including general accounting knowledge, an understanding of quality communication and responsiveness, an attention to detail regarding accuracy and timeliness, can anticipate needs through proactively seeking solutions, and following through on work and open items, then we encourage you to apply!Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Ownership of bill pay process, including, but not limited to vendor management, verification, and initial review of bill pay prepared by the Accounting Associate as well as identifying problems and providing resolutions in addition to delivering family expense reportsAssist in the preparation and adherence of standard operating procedures (SOP) and recommend improvementsAccounts receivable, loan and other cash inflows: review receivable reports identifying and resolving errors or other problemsTreasury management: review all activity for all accounts including but not limited to banking, credit cards, custody / brokerage accounts, alternative payment methods, and retirement accountsReview reconciliations prepared by the Accounting AssociatePrepare or review funding requests timelyReview of real property, collectibles, and other asset accounts and classesPrepare reconciliations of various accounts as neededUnderstand the family’s insurance requirements and appraisalsInvestment and partnership accounting: prepare journal entries, reconcile investment capital accountsReporting and analytical review: generate and customize reporting with proficient use of software, e.g., create cash flow statements, executive summaries, expense reports, and other ad hoc reporting per engagement SOPTax records: interpret and reconcile accounting books and records to tax returnsPlan for tax payment deadlines and manage payment process including fundingParticipate in tax planning discussion and assist in the preparation of supporting schedulesAssist with estate planning projects and tasks as neededIdentify key life events which trigger additional services including insurance coverage adjustments, household employee services and concierge special projectsManage accounting of payroll and review processed payroll for household employees as per the SOPManage ad hoc projects and family requests, as neededQualificationsMinimum of an associate degree in accounting or related areaBachelor's degree in accounting or related area preferred6-10 years prior accounting or related experiences, client service-oriented experience preferredProficient in general ledger software, bill pay software, Microsoft Office, & CRM systemsSkills & Experiences for SuccessStrong organizational skills, candidate can prioritize work and meet internal and external deadlinesStrong knowledge of debits, credits and general ledger / chart of accounts with the ability to adhere to previous categories and engagement specific processesBasic understanding of asset classes for brokerage accounts, alternative investments (private equity, hedge funds, etc.)Basic understanding of capital statements, capital calls and distributions, NAV / profit allocations and partnership allocationsFamiliar with basic estate documents: wills, POA's, trusts, living will, etc.Experience working in and/or knowledge of family offices and high net worth individuals a plusStrong verbal and communication skillsAbility to recognize areas for process improvement and provide feedback to team for continued development of best practicesWillingness to participate in company events, understands the importance of firm cultureEagerness to learn and attend training sessions to expand knowledge baseCompensation & BenefitsTrove offers an outstanding compensation package where you will be rewarded for your experience and recognized for the value you bring to our team of professionals.
