Beef Modernization Sorter B Shift

Summary of Duties: A Beef Modernization Sorter is responsible for evaluating carcass and its parts for potential food safety concerns prior to USDA inspection. Beef Modernization Sorters must have a high attention for details and the ability to make decisions based on potential pathology, presentation, or other food safety concerns in a fast-paced environment. Beef Modernization Sorters will undergo continuous training and are expected to work as a team in training and educating others.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesObserve, Incise or slice, and/or palpate various pieces of carcasses, heads, or organs to evaluate for food safety concernsMake decisions based on abnormalities seen during evaluationCorrectly identify and label carcasses or parts that require a veterinarian diagnosis and dispositionAssist in maintaining sanitary conditions of processing by ensuring fellow employees are following SSOP and GMPsWork closely with production employees, Leads, Supervisors and Superintendents, as well as USDA-FSIS personnelCommunicate repetitive presentation issues to production and Modernization ManagementKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesBeef Harvest Industry Experience requiredMust be able to work schedule which could include Saturdays, and required overtime, if necessaryAbility to communicate and work effectively with other Sorters, Production personnel, and USDA FSIS personnelAbility to make repetitive movements such as lifting, pulling, and pushingAbility to use and maintain a sharp edge on knivesTo know, or to learn beef animal anatomy and pathological conditionsA high attention for detailStrong problem-solving skillsEducation And Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredRequires 2 or more years of of experience in beef industry-harvest preferredExperience as a FSIS inspector or Beef Slaughter QA preferredJob Posted by ApplicantPro
