We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead a team of estimators and engineers in designing, quoting and engineering solutions in support of our sales teams and operations teams. This position is ideal for a technically adept, business-savvy professional who thrives on leading a team to solving problems, improving efficiency, and delivering measurable value to the organization and our customers.ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipDevelop and execute the long-term strategic roadmap for Estimating and Engineering in alignment with company goals.Oversee workforce planning and talent development to support growth and scalability of the team. Assess staffing levels and workloads for the estimating and engineering teams.Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure collaboration and cooperation to achieve business goals and objectives.Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams of estimators and engineers.Report on staff performance, product performance and project design trends.Assist Senior Leadership in developing and maintaining fiscal responsibility for the department.DeliveryProvide oversight for all estimating and engineering activities for the team.Establish and maintain best practices for prioritization of requests and deliverables.Provide support and escalation for estimating and engineering efforts to ensure accuracy and timeliness of completion.Define standards for estimating and engineering efforts including system architecture, design and costing methodologies, and overall best practices.Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, industry standards and manufacturer specifications.Cross-Functional AlignmentCollaborate with Operations and PMO to ensure estimating and engineering outputs align with profitability goals and project requirements.Partner with Operations leadership to define best practices and establish technical skill competencies for install, service and programming roles.Partner with procurement on vendor strategies and pricing structures.Engage with Sales on team throughput, prioritization of requests and opportunity support needs.Participate in department planning and strategic initiatives.Technical InnovationStay current with industry trends and emerging technologies and share insights with the broader department.Educate the Team, on new, and evolving technologies that affect our industry and our designs.Interface with manufacturers and partners on new technologies, technical issues, product resources.Required Qualifications10+ years of experience in low voltage technology integration.5+ years of experience in estimating, engineering as well as supervising/managing a team. Strong understanding of business operations, particularly in engineering, sales, and service delivery environments. Deep expertise in technical design, estimating and engineering.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams. Strong leadership and management capabilities to support the organization and the team.Preferred QualificationsManufacturer CertificationsIndustry Certifications – PSP, CPP, CTS-D, RCDD, CISSP, PMPExperienced in the use of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit and other design toolsKnowledge of NEC Code and low voltage systemsPhysical DemandsIn general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.Must be able to effectively communicate in English, (ie see, hear, speak and write clearly) in order to communicate with colleagues and/or customers Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment Sitting, standing, walking in office environments and construction sites The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet) Working ConditionsIn general, the following conditions of the work environment are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate Will be required to be on site with customers or contractors, with or without Paladin colleagues to manage the expectations and deliverables. Sites range from general office environments to new construction.
