Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle is looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to lead our Surgery team! Experience & Skills RequirementsLicensed Veterinary Technician required--LVT/RVT/CVT1-2 years of clinical experience highly preferredMust have surgical and anesthesia experiencePrevious Experience as a lead/supervisor, management positionRole ResponsibilitiesClinical SkillsAdvanced patient handling and restraint, including fear‑free techniquesTriage, full patient assessment, and history takingAdminister treatments/medications via all routes; calculate doses, CRIs, and % solutionsPlace/maintain peripheral & central IV catheters; manage IV fluidsPerform and monitor blood transfusionsProvide advanced inpatient nursing care, including recumbent patient managementSkilled pain assessment and managementPlace and manage urinary catheters; calculate urine outputEmergency response proficiency, including CPRAssist with advanced procedures; set up and monitor sedation/anesthesiaCollect and process diagnostic samples; operate and troubleshoot lab equipmentPerform venipuncture, blood typing, and crossmatchingNavigate EzyVet and SmartFlow efficientlyAdvanced pharmacy skills: fill/label prescriptions, reconstitute/dilute drugs, controlled substance documentationStrong knowledge of surgical and anesthetic procedures for critical patientsProficient in aseptic and sterile techniqueSkilled diagnostic imaging: radiographs (all views), ultrasound operation, endoscopy careProvide clinical leadership and training to team membersManagementMaintain high standards of patient care and client serviceCreate and manage schedules for veterinary support staffOversee onboarding, training, KPIs, and performance evaluationsEnsure efficient workflow and interdepartmental coordinationSet team goals and communicate expectations clearlyCollaborate with leadership to meet budget and operational targetsMentor and engage staff to support morale, growth, and retentionRepresent support staff on the leadership teamAddress personnel issues, conflict resolution, and corrective documentationFoster a positive, collaborative work environmentHandle client concerns and service recoveryIdentify opportunities to improve revenue and client satisfactionOversee department cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and inventoryEscalate medical or employment concerns appropriatelyCommunication SkillsClear, timely communication with the veterinary teamCoordinate with clients and external practices to obtain recordsMaintain patient/client privacyProvide advanced client education on procedures, diagnostics, and treatment plansPresent treatment plans and convey value of servicesObtain informed consentProvide follow‑up updates on patient progressModel and mentor strong communication, emotional intelligence, and conflict competenceBenefits-Our Care in ActionWe provide benefits spread comprehensively across your mental, physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing designed to meet your needs as a unique individual.
