Locum Veterinarian
Position SummaryThe Locum Veterinarian provides temporary medical coverage to support the hospital's veterinary team in delivering high-quality patient care. This role is responsible for examining patients, diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, performing medical procedures, and communicating effectively with clients and team members while maintaining hospital standards of care.Essential ResponsibilitiesPerform physical examinations and evaluate patient healthDiagnose illnesses and recommend appropriate treatment plansPrescribe medications and monitor patient progressPerform routine surgeries and medical procedures as neededInterpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging resultsEducate clients on treatment recommendations, preventive care, and follow-upMaintain accurate and timely medical recordsCollaborate with technicians, assistants, and support staffFollow hospital medical protocols and compliance standardsProvide compassionate care to patients and excellent service to clientsQualificationsDoctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary schoolActive veterinary license in the state of practiceDEA license in good standing (if applicable)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to adapt quickly to hospital workflowsCommitment to high-quality medicine and patient carePrevious small animal general practice experience preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift and restrain animals safelyAbility to perform surgical and medical proceduresSchedule* Temporary coverage based on hospital needs* Flexible scheduling may include weekdays and occasional weekendsReason for RequisitionThis position is needed to provide temporary doctor coverage to maintain continuity of patient care, support hospital operations, and ensure client service standards are met during staffing gaps or leave coverageIf you are a current associate, you will need to apply through our internal career site.
