Operations Analyst (contract)

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Operations Associate to support trade exception processing, reconciliations, and client servicing within a high-volume financial operations environment. This role centers on researching trade exceptions and seeing them through to resolution while ensuring accuracy across transaction processing, account balances, and client reporting. Key Responsibilities Exception Management & Resolution: Research and resolve trade rejects, exceptions, and discrepancies using sound judgment and analytical skills to ensure timely resolution and minimal financial impact Transaction Processing: Process trades, client instructions, and account updates accurately while adhering to strict deadlines, including price protection cut-off times Reconciliation & Analysis: Perform share and cash reconciliations, investigate account discrepancies, and resolve position and cash breaks by compiling and analyzing relevant data Client & Stakeholder Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and internal/external partners, handling requests via phone, email, and electronic forms Error Investigation & Correction: Identify and correct account-level errors through detailed analysis, ensuring records are updated accurately and promptly Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, update systems, and ensure all activities are properly documented for operational and audit purposes Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with technology, operations, and service teams to resolve issues and support system stability and process improvements Product & Market Support: Provide product knowledge, market insights, and technical assistance to clients and internal stakeholders as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail Effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint) Basic Excel skills including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment Preferred Experience Experience in brokerage, transaction processing, or financial operations Exposure to reconciliations, trade lifecycle, or fund operations Experience working in a client-facing or high-volume operations role Understanding of financial markets and instruments Why Join Us This role provides valuable exposure to financial operations within BNY’s Sub-Accounting business, offering hands-on experience in trade processing, reconciliations, and client interaction.
