Member of Technical Staff — Backend (AI / ML Systems)Location: San Francisco (Union Square)Work Policy: Onsite – 5 Days per WeekCompensation: $200k – $325k Base + Bonus + Stock OptionsVisa Sponsorship: AvailableAbout the RoleA fast-growing AI company building infrastructure for automating complex financial and tax document workflows is hiring Backend Engineers / Member of Technical Staff to build the core systems powering its machine learning platform.The company was recently acquired by a global enterprise technology leader, giving the team significant resources and long-term stability while maintaining the speed and ownership of an early-stage startup.Engineers in this role will build the core infrastructure for ML inference, data extraction pipelines, and AI-powered automation systems used by major accounting firms and financial institutions.This is a high-impact backend role where engineers own systems end-to-end and work directly with customers to shape product capabilities.What You'll DoBuild core backend systems that deploy and scale machine learning inference pipelinesDesign and implement services that extract structured data from complex tax documentsDrive architecture decisions for core platform services and internal toolingIntegrate ML models, monitoring systems, and application layers into production systemsDevelop backend services and database layers supporting product workflowsBuild integrations with external vendor APIs and financial data sourcesCollaborate on CI/CD systems and infrastructure to accelerate product developmentWork directly with customers (accountants and financial teams) to understand product needsWho You Are5+ years of backend software engineering experienceStrong proficiency in PythonExperience building production systems in high-bar engineering environmentsExperience working with large datasets and data processing pipelinesComfortable making architecture decisions and owning systems end-to-endStrong product mindset and ability to collaborate directly with usersDemonstrated growth through promotions or increasing ownership in previous rolesBased in or willing to relocate to San Francisco (5 days in-office)Tech StackPythonDjango (or similar backend frameworks)Google Cloud Platform (GCP)KubernetesWorkflow / data processing systemsCompensation & LogisticsBase Salary: $200k – $325kBonus + Stock Options: IncludedLocation: San FranciscoWork Policy: Full-time onsite (5 days/week)Visa Sponsorship: AvailableInterview process typically includes initial screening, technical interviews, and an onsite round.
