DescriptionJob Title: Crewperson 5 - MillingsPosition Function: The Millings Crewperson perform layout and machine work for cabinet and millwork assembly. Will assemble/ fabricate/build/repair/mill/install cabinetry, furniture, tabletops, desks and etc. Finish, spray and apply finishes to cabinetry, furniture, tabletops, desks and etc.Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesPerform work in a safe manner and report any hazardous conditionsAssist in maintaining good public relations, being cognizant that a Crewperson represents both the Facilities Division and the Wichita Public SchoolsCooperate with other employees and maintain good public relations inside and outside his/her assignmentWillingness to train and be trained in all phases of the assignment and increase his/her skills, thus, qualifying for advancementPossess a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer serviceMaintain appropriate licenses and certifications including a valid Kansas driver’s license at all times throughout employmentPossess superior knowledge of procedures, materials and equipment utilized in the designated area while displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadershipSupport the organizational goals, the mission of the School Service Center and the districtWork cooperatively with others and assist in maintaining open lines of communicationWork directly or indirectly under the SupervisorDaily schedule may fluctuate to accommodate deadlines and delivery of servicesAttendance at required meetings and in-servicesOffer solutions to the department Supervisor concerning problems in the fieldAccept responsibility for assisting with the training, skill development and supervision of other team membersMaintenance Responsibilities: Repair all wooden furniture, teacher/student desks, tables of all sizes, bookcases, molding and trim, folding lunch tables, cabinet doors, drawers, hardware, wood; Repair classroom tablesNew Construction Responsibilities: Build all types of cabinets, display cabinets, storage cabinets; Build exterior building doors, size door and cut for wind; Cut all type of base boards and trim; Install sinks and various signs; Build library circulation desks, computer tech labs, all types of table tops and countertops, shade mounting boardsPerform mandatory snow removal.Additional Duties: Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.Equipment: The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the job position as needed. This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with WPS guidelines for equipment use. Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment.
