JOB TITLE:Utility Worker (Signs & Markings)JOB CLASS NUMBER:TRD 930PAY GRADE:G01FLSA STATUS:Non-ExemptBUSINESS UNIT NAME:TransportationREPORTS TO:Signs and Markings SupervisorSUPERVISORY WORK:NoneSUMMARYResponsible for accuracy of sign fabrication maintenance, and installation of traffic control signs, pavement markings, and channelizing traffic detours for work areas as per MUTCD. Occasionally serves as crew chief over other utility workers and temporary summer employees.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESSign maintenance and installation as per MUTCDResponsible for accuracy, safety, dependability in use equipment, and supplies on each job.Must be dependable to work alone and supervise helpers in field operations.Must have knowledge of meanings, regulations and placement of signs.Writes up all signs for change out, and street markers for new subdivisions.Assist with overhead sign installation on signal post and mast arms.Pavements markings as per MUTCDMust be able to read and understand blue prints and work orders.Maintains and installs curb painting & island tips.Maintains crosswalks, stop bars, railroad x-ings and Arrows.Layout marking (dotting) for overlay and sealcoat streets.Driver operator for cone trailer and follow person.* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSRequires a High School Diploma or its equivalent, Valid Texas Driver's License required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to use a computer for work processing and spreadsheet purposes.Ability to use small electronic hand tools (Drill, Saw, etc.)Ability to use hand tools (Shovel, Broom, Post hole Digger, Screwdrivers, etc.)Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.ADA PROFILEReasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
