Mechanical EngineerJoin a dynamic team dedicated to designing and manufacturing precision components for plastic extrusion and injection molding processes. This role involves a combination of mechanical design, CAD modeling, manufacturing support, reverse engineering, machining knowledge, and project execution to enhance the performance and efficiency of plastics processing equipment.ResponsibilitiesDesign and modify precision mechanical components used in plastics processing equipment.Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.Support production through troubleshooting, process improvements, and design modifications.Work closely with machinists and manufacturing personnel to ensure designs can be produced efficiently.Perform reverse engineering activities on existing customer components and assemblies.Support machine programming and manufacturing-related technical activities.Verify dimensions and product quality using measurement equipment such as micrometers and calipers.Participate in design reviews, problem-solving efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.Assist with customer-driven engineering modifications and product improvements.Spend time on the manufacturing floor validating designs and supporting production.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.7+ years of Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience.Strong CAD experience creating mechanical designs and detailed manufacturing drawings.Experience working within a manufacturing environment.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and mechanical aptitude.Understanding of machining processes.Experience supporting products from design through manufacturing.Sheet metal or metals experience (Metallurgy or materials knowledge).Reverse engineering experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrecision machining or CNC machining experience.Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar 3D CAD software.Exposure to plastics processing, extrusion, or injection molding equipment.CNC programming experience.Experience working in a custom manufacturing or low-volume/high-mix environment.Hands-on fabrication, welding, machining, automotive, or mechanical hobby experience.Work EnvironmentThis position is set in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment that combines engineering, precision machining, and manufacturing expertise. It requires spending time both at a computer and on the production floor solving real-world manufacturing problems. The role involves close collaboration with manufacturing personnel to ensure practical and manufacturable designs.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Tecumseh, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $82000.00 - $102000.00/yr.
