The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, multi-year strategy that integrates all philanthropic revenue streams, with a strong emphasis on increasing major and principal gifts. This role involves close collaboration with the CEO and Board, setting clear revenue goals, and ensuring that the organization's mission is effectively communicated to support fundraising efforts. The CDCO will also lead a team of dedicated staff, fostering a culture of philanthropy and accountability, and will be a key player in identifying and stewarding new funders. Applicants for the CDCO position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' experience in nonprofit fundraising, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. A proven track record in soliciting and closing major gifts is essential, as is experience in team management and a deep understanding of how communications can enhance development efforts. The role requires a candidate with exceptional interpersonal skills, a data-informed mindset, and a strong belief in the power of philanthropy to effect change. Familiarity with the philanthropic community in New York City is a plus, and a genuine connection to the mission of the organization is a must.
