Fleet Manager / Lead Mechanic

ND Landscape Services is seeking an experiencedFleet Manager / Lead Mechanic to take ownership of our growing fleet of trucks,trailers, and landscape equipment. This is a hands-on leadership roleresponsible for keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and ready to supportlandscape construction, maintenance, and snow operations year-round.This position is ideal for a seasoned mechanic whoenjoys turning wrenches and leading people, systems, and standards.Position OverviewThe Fleet Manager/Lead Mechanic isresponsible for managing a fleet of approximately 60 vehicles andpieces of equipment, ensuring everything is tracked, maintained, repaired,compliant, and ready to perform. You will coordinatevendors, manage inventory, and make informed decisions around repairs,replacements, and purchases.Hands-On Mechanical WorkDiagnose, repair, and maintain trucks, trailers, and landscape equipmentPerform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifeTroubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel, and gas engine issuesSupport emergency repairs during peak season and snow events as neededFleet & Shop ManagementOversee the day-to-day condition and readiness of the company fleetBuild and manage preventative maintenance schedulesTrack repairs, parts, warranties, inspections, and service intervalsMaintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safety standardsCoordinate outside vendors when specialized repairs are requiredLeadership & AccountabilityLead and manage any additional mechanics or shop staffSet repair priorities based on operational needsEstablish consistent standards for repairs, inspections, and documentationWork closely with management to ensure equipment availabilityProvide recommendations for equipment replacement and capital planningBudgeting and Management of budgetWhat We're Looking ForExtremely organized with strong scheduling and planning skillsA true doer who takes initiative and follows throughExcellent communicator (written and verbal)Highly reliable and accountableStrong attention to detail - nothing slips through the cracksComfortable managing people and holding others accountableConfident making decisions and problem-solving under pressureSkilled at researching options and making cost-effective, safety-focused recommendationsAble to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environmentWhy ND Landscape?5+ years of experience working on trucks and/or heavy equipmentStable, growing company with a large and diverse fleetOpportunity to own and build systems that make a real impactLeadership role with autonomy and responsibilitySupportive team and long-term growth potential401K MatchHealth and Dental InsuranceVacation, Holiday Pay
