Dental Assistant
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the delivery of high-quality patient care through efficient chairside assisting, accurate medical documentation, and effective communication within the dental team. Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained.
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
Record vital signs and medical history, update medical records accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic.
Manage medical documentation and coding to ensure compliance with insurance requirements and legal standards.
Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve procedure efficiency.
Educate patients on oral health care and post-treatment instructions in a compassionate manner.
Maintain infection control protocols and ensure all equipment is sterilized according to industry standards.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and assisting as a dental receptionist when needed.
Stay current with advances in dental technology including the use of a 3D scanner and other medical imaging tools.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures and operate medical imaging equipment safely and effectively.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
Experience supporting pediatric dentistry is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for working with children is a plus.
Strong understanding of dental procedures across various specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients clearly about treatment plans and oral health practices.
Certification in Dental Assisting is highly desirable; ongoing professional development in areas like medical coding or pediatrics is advantageous. Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
