$26.57 - $39.86 Hourly$55,273 - $82,909 AnnuallyThis position is a Pay Band C7Posting DetailsThe TANF Supervisor provides direct oversight and leadership to a team of Career Consultants and support staff delivering services under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, specifically through the New Mexico Works (NMW) initiative. This position is responsible for supervising daily operations, guiding staff performance, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, client-centered services that promote long-term economic self-sufficiency for low-income families.Due to Budget the pay rate for position will be $29.06 Interviews will be conducted within 2 weeks of closing Why does the job exist?Develops personalized plans, coordinates job opportunities, and provides ongoing support for participants contacting the HCA Consolidated Customer Service Center. Provides "One and Done" services and may assist with statewide case management tasks. How does it get done?Staff recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance monitoring, and compliance with program policies and state and federal regulations. The TANF Supervisor plays a critical role in creating a supportive and accountable team environment while aligning team efforts with program goals and the broader mission of the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS). Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information in alignment with agency policies and applicable laws.May be required to represent the agency in meetings with stakeholders, external partners, or at public events.Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal teams, leadership, and external partners.Must possess the ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff, and to lead with a focus on equity, accountability, and results.Additional qualifications or certifications may be required depending on assignment or future operational needs. Minimum QualificationAssociate degree in Social Services, Education, Government, Human Resources, or Business Administration and three (3) years of experience in customer service, administrative support, business administration, human resources, recruitment, placement, selection, compensation, benefits administration, labor relations, occupational analysis, processing personnel transactions, or eligibility determination in a public and/or social welfare program. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working ConditionsWork is primarily performed in an office setting, with regular interaction with staff, leadership, and stakeholders. Frequent use of computers, tablets, printers, telephones, and other office equipment is required. Work is based on operational needs or leadership responsibilities. This position requires a background check. Continued employment is contingent upon successfully passing the background. May require extended hours and occasional weekends.
