As a small, fast-growing business, we rely on team members who are flexible, dependable, and excited to jump into a variety of tasks throughout the day.Position OverviewWe are looking for a friendly, energetic Café Team Member who will be cross-trained in both Back of House (BOH) and Front of House (FOH) operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well in a fast-paced environment, and can deliver excellent customer service while maintaining high-quality food and beverage standards. Key ResponsibilitiesFront of House (FOH) – Barista & Guest ServicePrepare a full range of espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages according to café standardsGreet guests with a positive attitude; take orders and answer menu questionsBus tables, wipe surfaces, and maintain a clean and welcoming dining areaRun food and drinks to tables efficientlyRestock FOH items (cups, lids, syrups, pastries, condiments, etc.)Keep the lobby, drink station, and pastry case clean, organized, and presentableBack of House (BOH) – Prep & Kitchen SupportPrepare sandwiches, breakfast items, and café menu items with consistency and accuracyComplete food prep tasks: chopping, portioning, mixing, labeling, and storing items according to food-safety standardsOperate small kitchen equipment (convection ovens, panini press, slicer, etc.)Follow recipes and plating guidelinesWash dishes, sanitize workspaces, and maintain clean prep areasRotate inventory and follow FIFO proceduresAssist with stocking deliveries and organizing back-of-house storageGeneral ResponsibilitiesMaintain excellent food safety, cleanliness, and health-code compliance at all timesWork collaboratively with the café team and communicate clearlyFollow opening, mid-shift, and closing checklistsSupport the café's overall appearance, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and general cleaningJump into any area as needed during busy periodsRepresent Cedar's Coppice with professionalism and warmthQualificationsPrior café, barista, or kitchen experience preferred but not requiredAbility to multitask and stay organized under pressureComfortable working on your feet for extended periods (10–16 hours in some cases)Must be able to lift up to 30 lbsReliable, punctual, and team-orientedWillingness to learn both barista skills and kitchen preparationStrong attention to detail and cleanlinessFood Handler's certification (or willingness to obtain one)Schedule & CompensationFlexible scheduling with evening and weekend shiftsWeekend availability requiredCompetitive hourly pay based on experienceTips shared according to café policyHow to ApplyPlease submit your résumé (optional), a short introduction, or apply in person at Cedar's Coppice.
