Your scope of work includes providing a wide variety of technical paralegal services and supporting Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) within the Criminal Division.This is a full-time opportunity in which we’ll provide competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and job stability and security.Apply today!ResponsibilitiesProvide a variety of direct paralegal services to assist AUSAsSeek information from known sources and locate new sources of information to aid investigations, litigation, and trialsGather factual material using legal authorities and current case lawRead, annotate, and summarize transcripts, files, and other factual aspects of casesObtain financial and statistical information, agency records, court records, and public recordsAnalyze documents, assist with agency interviews or potential witnesses, and draft factually precise legal memorandaReview, organize, and analyze the financial and management operations of various organizationsGather, sort, and examine financial documents from various sources (e.g., statements, bank records, etc.)Interpret data and statistical evaluations to prepare and present oral and written reports to AUSA and/or judgesReview and analyze health care records (e.g., medical records, billing records, Medicaid or Medicare data, etc.)Perform timely and accurate case file review and analysis against legal standardsNote case file deficiencies and request further investigation to correct deficiencies within approved authorityPerform assigned case development tasks utilizing established legal research tools and reference materialsOrganize, inventory, and process large quantities of records, data, and discovery documentsPrepare exhibits for settlement discussions, discovery requests, and trialOrganize and analyze discovery responsesProvide automated litigation assistance to attorneys in fraud-related trial preparation and courtroom presentationsUse various software applications and graphics hardware such as scanners and plottersPrepare documents, statistical charts, and visual materials for use in trialsProvide technical support (e.g. enlarging charts and photographs, duplicating tapes and videos, and marking exhibits)Perform government work with 95% accuracyComplete duties according to set deadlines provided by AUSA or courtKnowledge & SkillsProficient in Microsoft Office software programs (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)Proficient in office technology (e.g., computers, fax machines, copiers, etc.)Knowledge of legal procedures and terminologyKnowledge of legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis, etc.)Knowledge of E-case filing systems (e.g., CaseView, etc.)Knowledge of document scanning software (e.g., E-Scan, I-Pro Eclipse, CaseMap, TimeMap, e.g.)Knowledge of software used to display documents at trial (e.g., Trial Director, etc.)Excellent written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational and multitasking skillsBACKGROUND2 years of experience in a professional office environment required (legal setting preferred)EDUCATIONHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredParalegal certificate preferredBachelor’s degree preferredLOCATIONRoanoke, VA 24011TELEWORKMay be permitted with approvalCLEARANCEU.S. citizenship required since this role supports the U.S. federal governmentCLIENTDepartment of Justice (DOJ)TRAVELTravel may be requiredWORK HOURS40 hours per week8 hours per dayEMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATIONEmployment Classification Eligibility — NonexemptRELOCATIONNot eligible for relocation benefitsKMRG, LLC is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) employer.
