The teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans and delivering instruction within established curriculum guidelines; adjusting curricula to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to improve instruction; and engaging parents/guardians in conversations with regard to instructional programs and student progress.Qualifications:Required Qualifications:Bachelor's DegreeA valid license in Health & P.E. from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary EducationExcellent oral and written communication skillsConsistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the studentsDesired Qualifications:Master's DegreeCurricula including coursework in health and general education topics, human development and educational psychologyDemonstrated experience with grade-level learning principlesExperience with and / or willingness for rope course professional development / training as our classes have climbing components leading to appropriate credentials for our climbing courseEssential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):Creates and maintains an effective and developmentally appropriate learning environment for studentsPrepares daily lessons and activitiesManages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal classroom climateDifferentiates instruction for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual needCollects data to document student progress and aid in planningAssesses student progress towards learning targets, objectives, and expectationsProvides feedback on progress to students, parents, and administrationIdentifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve social, emotional and learning problemsCollaborates with colleagues to improve student outcomesFollows specific standards, policies, and procedures of the building and the districtAttends and participates in faculty meetings and professional development activitiesConsistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the studentsResponsible for implementing "other job related duties" as neededWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Work Environment:* Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for afterschool meetings (ex: Back to School Night).* Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Rarely absent or late unless the situation is of an emergency nature.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job the teacher is frequently required to kneel, stoop, bend, and crouch. The teacher is frequently required to stand; while talking and listening. The teacher is occasionally required to sit; walk; lift; or carry.Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.Responsible for set up and break down of equipment used for associated course work
