About Code MetalCode Metal is redefining code translation for mission-critical industries, helping defense partners move more quickly and reliably from algorithm to silicon. Our platform accelerates deployment of DSP, RF, communications, and embedded signal processing algorithms onto heterogeneous compute targets, including GPUs, FPGAs, ASICs, and edge SoCs. We also support automotive, aerospace, and semiconductor partners deploying complex algorithms onto constrained hardware with speed and rigor. The RoleThis role at Code Metal sits at the intersection of engineering, research, and growth, helping translate emerging opportunities into real technical capabilities.Who thrives in this role:Engineers who enjoy turning loosely defined opportunities into real systemsTechnically curious people who quickly explore unfamiliar domains and synthesize solutionsBuilders who combine strong technical judgment with practical executionA strong technical background is required, whether the candidate's experience comes from engineering, research, or technical business roles. You will often be the first person to explore how Code Metal's technology can solve entirely new classes of problems.Responsibilities:Identify and shape new technical opportunities and architectures that expand how Code Metal's technology is applied in real-world systems for government and commercial usersRapidly investigate new technical domains and evaluate alternative solution paths through analysis, trade studies, and feasibility assessmentsTranslate ambiguous problems into credible technical approaches, system concepts, and proposal contentLead the execution of proof-of-concept (PoC) system designs, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders on scoping and providing technical judgment throughoutFind opportunities to showcase product differentiators when building solutions and PoCs for customersWork across engineering, research, product, and growth teamsRequirementsStrong background in computer science, systems engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical fieldAbility to quickly learn about unfamiliar domains and synthesize new technical informationExperience working with customers to create solutions and execute successful proofs of conceptStrong analytical thinking and problem decomposition skillsExcellent communication skills and the ability to contribute to technical proposalsSelf-starter with an ability to operate independentlyGreat to Have:Experience designing or architecting complex technical systemsBroad cross-domain software experience in one or more of the following: C/C++, Rust, Python, Verilog/VHDL, MATLAB, CUDA/OpenCLReal-world edge computing or embedded experience where software, hardware, and physical systems intersectExperience working with U.S. Government programs or dual-use technologiesBenefitsPay depends on experience, but we strive to be at the upper end of the salary rangeHealth care plan with 100% premium coverage, including medical, dental, and vision401k with 5% matchingPaid Time Off (uncapped vacation, plus sick and public holidays)Flexible hybrid or remote work arrangementRelocation assistance for qualifying employees
