Research Engineer - Plasma Equipment

The successful candidate will work closely with the scientific and technical team on the design and operations of our next-generation plasma experiments for materials processing. This role will take primary responsibility for conducting plasma experiments and requires advanced knowledge of plasma physics, a strong problem-solving mindset, and a collaborative approach to overcoming technical challenges.WHAT WILL YOU BE WORKING ONDesign and prepare experimental test plans and procedures on the PNE plasma devices under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), ensuring alignment with R&D project objectivesOperate plasma devices and systems to carry out experimental campaignsDevelop and validate technical specifications to meet project requirementsCollect, organize, and analyze experimental data and results to guide engineering upgrades, access the strengths and weaknesses of various technical solutions, and troubleshoot challenges in plasma performanceDevelop and update operating procedures and safety plans as required by experimental protocolsPrepare and present research findings through written reports, briefings, and progress reports for PIWrite periodic progress reports to document experimental milestones and insightsMaintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant technical literature and advancements in plasma physics and related fieldsPerform other duties as assigned, actively contributing to the success of the R&D teamOUR IDEAL CANDIDATE IS SOMEONE WITHPh.D. in plasma physics or a related field, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experienceHands-on research experience with plasma physics experiments and equipment diagnosticsFamiliar to plasma systems as well as compliance and safety protocolsAdvanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively, explain complex technical information clearly, and provide insights to PIProficiency with data analysis software and statistical methodsExceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic teamPhysical RequirementsThis is an on-site position in Monmouth Junction, NJAble to work in the lab environment and wear personal protective equipment, including lab coat, safety goggles, gloves, and/or mask, and respirator as requiredAble to lift & carry 25 poundsProlonged periods of standing and walkingHas visual inspection capability to assess lab equipmentPrinceton NuEnergy, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity EmployerAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, national origin, marital status, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected status under federal, state, and local laws.
