Assistant Project Manager (Mechanical) - Data CentersHighland Consulting Group is an executive construction recruiting firm specializing in placing top construction talent nationwide.We're partnering with a regional mechanical contractor in Lima, OH that delivers large data center projects and is hiring an experienced Assistant Project Manager. If you enjoy commercial mechanical work-piping, plumbing, and HVAC-this is an opportunity to grow into full Project Management with mentorship from a highly skilled team. Our client invests in modern tools and technology and offers the resources and stability of a growing organization.Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager supporting commercial or industrial mechanical projects (data center experience is a plus).Paid Relocation or daily per diemKey ResponsibilitiesSupport the Project Management team in planning, executing, and closing out assigned projectsOwn and track the submittal process from creation through approvalPrepare and respond to RFIs as needed, coordinating with internal teams and external partnersAssist with change order pricing, negotiation support, and maintenance of change order logsPartner with the Project Manager to track budget performance, forecast costs, and review/approve project expensesServe as a point of contact with the Owner and stakeholders on assigned projectsMaintain complete project documentation, including closeout and turnover materialsDevelop, update, and communicate project schedulesCoordinate punch list inspections with the Superintendent and Owner's Representative and issue punch lists to subcontractorsEstimate and support pricing for change orders and scope revisionsSupport contract administration activities, including documentation and compliance trackingAssist with subcontract and equipment buyout activitiesQualificationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to build and manage project timelines and budgetsExperience with cost estimating and negotiationAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentComfort leading productive, cross-functional meetingsDemonstrated project performance with a consistent work history and strong referencesExperience: 5+ years as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager on large-scale mechanical projects preferredBenefitsOur client is committed to supporting employees and their families with a comprehensive benefits package, including:Healthcare coveragePaid vacation401(k) with company matchLong-term disabilityLife insurancePaid training and developmentIf you have the qualifications listed above please take a moment to apply.
