This role involves assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic illnesses, promoting health and wellness, and working in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers. Conduct comprehensive physical exams and health assessmentsObtain and interpret patient histories and diagnostic testsDiagnose and treat common acute and chronic medical conditionsPrescribe medications and therapeutic treatments within the scope of practiceDevelop and implement individualized care plansProvide health education and counseling on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle choicesManage follow-up care and coordinate referrals to specialists when neededPerform minor procedures as appropriate (e.g., wound care, suturing)Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record systemParticipate in quality improvement and practice initiativesCollaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team membersMaintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice guidelines.QualificationsMaster's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.Experience in primary care or family medicine preferredCurrent licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)National board certification as a Family (FNP-C) or (FNP-BC)Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.BenefitsSanford offers an attractive benefits package for qualifying full-time and part-time employees.
