Fab Machine Operator

Position Summary: Performs material layout, machine set-up, grinds, files, drills, taps, saws, sands, performs plasma, laser, and oxyfuel burning, rolls plates, cuts, forms metal, fits up, and presses and assembles materials/components/products. Duties and Responsibilities: Performs cuts, grinds, files, drills, taps, sands, presses, saws, within job specifications, quality standards, and allotted routing time. Performs plasma, laser, and oxyfuel burning, rolls plate, forms metal, and fits up materials/components/products within job specifications, quality standards, and allotted routing time. Lifts, loads, sorts, and moves materials, supplies, and products between storage, work areas, etc. safely using push cars, hoist, dolly, forklift, overhead crane, etc. Performs general maintenance on equipment and tooling. Performs general shop and equipment cleanup, keeping work area orderly. Follows blueprints/job specifications and determines proper raw material requirements. Ensures and carries out proper material layout, machine set-up, tooling, and adjustments which meet blueprint/job specifications and quality standards. Inspects parts and components to ensure conformance with specifications and quality requirements. Assists/fills in for other employees/departments as needed. Runs errands, picks up supplies and equipment; performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned. Skills and Abilities: Mechanically inclined with blueprint reading skills. Must have adequate math skills. Ability to use all types of machinery, drill presses, and hand tools. Competent with power tools common to Fab machining work (e.g. saws, drills, taps, press brake, plate roller, CNC gantry, cutters, drill presses, grinders, inspection equipment, etc.). Ability to read, write and follow verbal and/or written instructions. Ability to identify and solve problems utilizing own knowledge as well as printed material.
