Electrical Engineer II

Summary/ObjectivePerforms development-level engineering work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. Receives supervision from experienced engineers on non-routine, complex projects and assignments. Performs moderate engineering tasks for the design and preparation of plans and details and performs design calculations for projects. Works closely with other staff to gain technical knowledge and work efficiency.Essential FunctionsDevelop design concepts, studies, design options, and establish design criteria with the assistance from the project team members or other experienced engineers Perform analysis and design calculations, document design procedures, and ensure design complies with applicable codes and standardsPrepare design documents including schematics, design details, and calculationsProduce project deliverables using computer-aided engineering software, specifically AutoCADPerform research, field investigations, and construction administration duties as assignedAssist in reviewing close-out documents and remit to agencies and clients as neededDevelop and maintain trusted relationships with multidisciplinary team membersPerform other duties as requiredEducation/ExperienceB.S. in electrical engineering (ABET/EAC-accredited program)2+ years of applicable engineering experienceEIT/FE preferredSKM and/or Easypower experience is requiredKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesExperience performing power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, ground grid, lightning protection, harmonics mitigation and capacitor bank sizing studies using SKM and/or EasypowerDemonstrates ability to successfully engage with professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment, communicates with team members and builds relationships and trustExercises good engineering judgementConveys information through effective and timely verbal and written communicationIntermediate proficiency with computer-aided design software and other software packages typically associated with engineering required Proficient in general documentation software such as Microsoft Suite, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, etc.Effectively applies experience and skills to increasingly complex assignmentsIntermediate public speaking and presentation skillsAble to conduct site visits as needed; may require a valid driver's licenseEffectively maintains office and field health & safety requirements and protocolsMaintains a work schedule conducive to team collaboration and project-specific requirementsPhysical RequirementsInvolves sitting a considerable amount of the time, but requires the ability to conduct field/site visits to inspect workMay exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to move objectsOccasionally lifts and carries up to 25 poundsConsiderable time is spent at a workstation using a computer and using various forms of communication (telephone, email, messaging, etc.)Field work includes exposure to outside weather conditions and various environmental conditions depending on the sitePhysical activities include walking and occasional stooping and crouchingThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties and/or responsibilities required of the employee for this position.
