Embedded Software Engineer

H&T Electronics values problem-solving, technical excellence, and continuous improvement in a professional, inclusive work environment.Role Description The Embedded Software Engineer contract role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software for electronic products and systems. Working in a hybrid arrangement based in Philadelphia, PA, the engineer will spend time both on-site collaborating with hardware and cross-functional teams and working from home for focused development tasks. Day-to-day activities include writing and testing embedded code, implementing software designs, integrating software with hardware, and troubleshooting issues through systematic debugging. The role also involves reviewing technical requirements, contributing to system architecture discussions, documenting software behavior, and supporting product validation and field issues as needed.Qualifications Strong proficiency in Embedded Software Programming and experience working with Embedded Software on microcontrollers or embedded platforms.Demonstrated background in Software Development, including coding, integration, and testing in C/C++ or similar languages.Hands-on Debugging skills using tools such as logic analyzers, debuggers, and oscilloscopes to diagnose and resolve software and system issues.Experience with Software Design principles, including modular architecture, real-time considerations, and optimization for resource-constrained systems.Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.Familiarity with embedded operating systems or bare-metal development, version control (e.g., Git), and build systems.Ability to interpret hardware schematics and collaborate effectively with hardware engineers and other stakeholders.Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently within a hybrid on-site/remote environment.Experience with safety-critical or regulated environments and knowledge of industry standards for embedded systems is a plus.
