This is real mechanic work—diesel engines, hydraulic systems, heavy equipment. You'll handle everything from routine maintenance to complex diagnostics and repairs. Your day-to-day: Maintain and repair heavy-duty dump trucks (diesel engines) Service hydraulic dump systems and slip-in trailer mechanisms Keep crushers and power screeners operational Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues Manage parts inventory and minimize downtime Test drive trucks and ensure DOT compliance Work independently without someone breathing down your neck What makes this different from your current job: You're not just turning wrenches on a production line You own the repairs from diagnosis to completion Your expertise is valued and compensated fairly Equipment variety keeps the work interesting Local 'ohana company, not mainland corporate overlords What You Need 3+ years maintaining heavy trucks or commercial vehicles Strong diesel engine and hydraulic systems knowledge Valid driver's license with clean record Can lift 75 lbs and handle physical work Comfortable with diagnostic tools and technical manuals Self-motivated and organized Welding Skills Bonus points for: 5+ years heavy equipment experience ASE or diesel mechanic certification CDL license Own tools About Soil Plus We're a locally-owned Big Island company delivering soil, aggregates, and construction materials across the island.
