This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to applyThe Orthopedic Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) Care Manager provides nursing care to a group of patients for the Orthopedic Services. This position works under the direction of the Orthopedic Provider assigned, but is directly responsible to the Nurse Manager, Specialty Clinics. The RN Care Manager has a full range of duties, utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care in the Orthopedic Clinic.Major duties include, but may not be limited to:Collects assess data based on patient signs, symptoms, and history.Provides health care advice to patients and family members seeking advice, utilizing the nursing process and triage protocol and policies.Develops a plan of care using information from the patient, family, and or provider.Completes required documentation assuring that it is reflective of patient needs.Is familiar with and knowledgeable about disease process.Completes work assignments within established time frames; adapts to changes in or additions to work assignments including cross covering other specialty clinics whenever necessary; reprioritizes as necessary.Provides patient and family health education with a focus on self-management, prevention, and wellness, based on the patient's goals.Serves in a role to support Telehealth clinical programs across the system.Conducts Telehealth, Tele-presenting, Veteran Video Connect (VVC), or WebEx Appointments.Participates in process improvement activities and huddles.Demonstrate ability to respond to urgent care needs and report responsibilities of position in the event of urgent emergent matters/situations.Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor and or Manager.Ensure compliance with VA/VHA Directives, VA policies, Ethics, and standard operating procedures.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pmTelework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not AuthorizedEDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
