Boys & Girls Club Program Leader
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
Establish programs, activities and services that prepare Youth for Success. This may consist of in person programming at the Club or Virtual Programming.
Create a Club Environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in the program area.
Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.
Program Development & Implementation
Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for current and drop in members.
Ensure the evaluation of club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
Control programs and activities expenditures within the approved budget.
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs, services and activities.
Maintain proper documentation and turn in assigned paperwork to the supervisor. Paperwork includes but is not limited to: program reports, attendance records, observation reports, grant reports, activity reports and more.
Additional Responsibilities
Implement BGCA programs based on Units monthly calendar.
Oversee and implement special programs, events and group clubs.
Learn and follow the day to day routine and schedule of the Unit.
Implement High Yield activities with members, at least once a week.
Participate in the implementation of other Units activities as necessary and requested.
Complete and submit all attendance records, calendars, program summaries and other required tracking documents on time (based on the request of the Supervisor).
Conduct monthly school visits to build trusting relationships with members and monitor their progress if requested by the supervisor.
Attend staff and leadership meetings when scheduled.
Create and update bulletin boards based on schedule.
Create and implement activities for members based on the age group.
Ensure the program area is inviting by creating a positive atmosphere, using color posters, displaying encouraging quotes, etc.
Maintain a contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents to assist in resolving problems and promote/market the club.
Participate in one workshop per month on Spillett Leadership University online.
Maintain Boys & Girls Club email each day before members arrive.
Collaborate with other Club’s Program Leaders to create events and activities for other sites to participate.
May be asked to work after regular scheduled club hours and/or the weekend.
May be required to drive Club vehicle
May consult with parents concerning members and branch issues.
Report all disciplinary issues to the Unit Director verbally along with a Behavior Citation/Warning.
Adhere to all guidelines and policies established by the organization: Policies include but are not limited to: safety policies, personnel policies, program leader policies, technology policies
To adhere to directions provided by their immediate supervisor.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
High School diploma Required and it is preferred at least 12 college credits/ or a two year degree from an accredited community college/ or a four year degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent.
Demonstrate knowledge or principles related to youth development; partnership development; and group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
A minimum of one year experience in working with youth and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people preferred
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
Demonstrate organizational, staff and project management abilities.
Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications within 6 months of hire.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $15.50 per hour
