Apply via Dice today!Role: AWS Devops EngineerLocation: Tempe, AZ OR Atlanta, GA (Hybrid)Type: Contract Position Overview:AWS DevOps CI/CD, GitLab, confluence Jira, Agile Candidates should be located in Tempe Arizona and/or Atlanta Georgia locations as first priority. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining technical software applications and provides a combination of technical and business leadership while being the primary trusted and capable owner of one or more high priority, high visibility, complex initiatives. The DevOps Engineer will typically lead and coach a small number of team members (e.g., an architect, systems analyst, etc.) and provide guidance to a larger community.Essential Functions:Designs and writes complex code in several languages relevant to our existing product stack, with a focus on automation.Configures, tunes, maintains and installs applications systems and validates system functionality.Monitors and fine tunes applications system to achieve optimum performance levels and works with hardware teams to resolve issues with hardware and software.Lead, manage and grow a team of customer focused, highly dynamic and multi-disciplinary team of full stack software engineers.Assists with application system problem resolution by working with application developers, vendors, and internal infrastructure teams member to troubleshoot.Design and implement appropriate environments for DevOps tools set, and provide production support.Influences other teams and broader Engineering groups in adopting Cloud technologies, processes, and best practices.Automates the provisioning of environments for DevOps Tool chain.Develops and enables continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) for DevOps Tool set.Acts to improve the overall reliability of systems and to increase efficiency.Works collaboratively with cross functional teams, using Agile / DevOps principles to bring products to life, achieve business objectives and serve customer needs.Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, and self-organizationDay-to-Day Job Duties (What this person will do on a daily/weekly basis)Design, develop, and implement scalable, secure, and automated solutions within AWS cloud environmentsBuild, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and other DevOps toolsConfigure, maintain, and support DevOps toolchain including GitLab, Jira, and ConfluenceAutomate infrastructure provisioning and application deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principlesMonitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance, reliability, and availabilityCollaborate closely with software development, infrastructure, and business teams to deliver high-quality solutionsLead design and implementation of DevOps environments and provide production supportDrive adoption of cloud native technologies, DevOps practices, and automation across engineering teamsResolve application/system issues by partnering with developers, vendors, and internal teamsProvide technical leadership on high-priority, complex initiatives with large business impactCoach and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environmentPromote innovation, continuous improvement, and best practices in DevOps and Agile methodologiesKey things:Build AWS 2.0 – Alligned infrastructure and pipelines for EC2, EKS, EMR, RDS, EFS, S3, AWS Glue, DataSyncDesign Apache Airflow Implementation.Autosys job Dependencies and data lineageAnalyze existing AWS 1.0 services and CI/CD pipelines supporting BIS workloadsBasic Qualifications (Required Skills With Minimum Experience)6+ years of overall experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or related roles3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, etc.)Strong experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CDProven experience with DevOps tooling including Jira and ConfluenceSolid understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practicesExperience in scripting/programming (e.g., Python, Bash, or similar) for automationExpertise in infrastructure provisioning and configuration managementExperience in system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshootingPreferred Qualifications / Nice To HaveExperience leading or managing small engineering teamsExperience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)Familiarity with security best practices in cloud and DevOps environmentsKnowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systemsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsRole Responsibilities & Leadership ExpectationsAct as a primary owner for high-visibility and mission-critical DevOps initiativesProvide both technical leadership and business alignmentInfluence cross-functional engineering teams to adopt cloud and automation best practicesLead and mentor a team of engineers while guiding broader engineering communitiesDrive continuous improvement in system reliability, performance, and efficiencyLocationPreferred: Tempe, Arizona OR Atlanta, GeorgiaCandidates in these locations will be given first priorityTravelMinimal to moderate travel may be required based on project needsDegreeBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
