Accounts Payable Specialist

This temporary role will focus on supporting the accounts payable function, with an emphasis on processing employee expense reimbursements and helping the team address a backlog of transactions. Due to timing sensitivities and system constraints, the individual will play a key role in ensuring reimbursements and invoices are processed accurately and within expected timelines. Additional support may be provided across broader AP activities as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess employee reimbursement requests efficiently, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.Assist in clearing outstanding transactions and maintaining current processing levels.Support vendor invoice processing and entry into the accounting system.Record AP transactions in accordance with established accounting standards.Maintain accurate vendor data and ensure completeness of invoice documentation.Respond to vendor questions and resolve discrepancies.Perform account reconciliations and make adjustments where necessary.Update and manage allocation or distribution details as needed.Compile and organize documentation required for internal and external audits.Provide coverage and support for other team members within the AP function.Review vendor statements to confirm outstanding balances are addressed.Contribute to special assignments and process-related projects as needed.QualificationsAt least 3 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting function.Ability to handle a high volume of transactions with strong attention to detail.Comfortable working in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office applications.Experience working with accounting systems; familiarity with nonprofit environments is a plus.Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrates sound judgment, particularly with time-sensitive issues.Able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality.Reliable access to a computer and internet connection.Compensation: $20-25/hrSalary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
