This role is responsible for executing day-to-day laboratory activities in a fast-paced research and development environment, supporting both routine testing and advanced research programs.The technician will work closely with scientists and engineers to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of thermal treatment equipment across multiple laboratory spaces. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with high-temperature systems, materials processing, and experimental procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate, monitor, and maintain high-temperature furnaces and thermal treatment equipmentPrepare laboratory samples, fixtures, and materials according to experimental plans and standard operating proceduresExecute test runs, manage schedules, and ensure timely setup and readiness of equipmentPerform routine equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting; escalate technical issues when necessaryFollow all laboratory safety protocols, PPE requirements, and operating procedures related to high-temperature and molten glass environmentsDocument experimental activities, process conditions, and test results accurately in laboratory tracking systemsSupport data traceability and maintain organized lab records and documentationCollaborate with scientists, engineers, and fellow technicians to prioritize workloads and adapt to changing project demandsAssist in startup, calibration, development, and stabilization of new laboratory equipment and processesMaintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces and equipment areasRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Geology, Ceramics, or a related technical disciplineStrong understanding of laboratory practices, process equipment, and materials handlingComfortable working with instrumentation and executing detailed experimental proceduresStrong attention to detail with the ability to accurately follow and document proceduresAbility to work independently in a hands-on, execution-focused laboratory environmentWillingness to work around high-temperature equipment while adhering to strict safety standardsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with high-temperature furnaces, heat treatment systems, ceramics, or glass processingPrevious experience in laboratory or manufacturing environments involving thermal systems or materials processingFamiliarity with laboratory documentation systems, test tracking software, or LIMS platformsExperience supporting fast-paced R&D or product development laboratories with changing prioritiesStrong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively alongside scientists and engineersKey SkillsLaboratory OperationsThermal Processing & Heat TreatmentMaterials HandlingFurnace OperationsExperimental Setup & ExecutionEquipment TroubleshootingLaboratory Safety & PPE ComplianceDocumentation & Data TrackingTeam CollaborationTime Management & Multitasking
