Job Title: Instructional Coach (Grant Funded)Exemption Status/Test: ExemptReports to: Curriculum DirectorDept./School: Assigned CampusPrimary Purpose:The primary purpose of this position is to work directly with classroom teachers on the delivery of high-quality instruction to improve student and staff learning. This leadership position serves as a collaborator and liaison between campus and district staff to implement district instructional initiatives, provide job-embedded professional development, and accomplish specific district and campus goals.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Valid Texas teaching certificate in specified content area(s)/appropriate grade levelsMinimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience preferredLeadership experience (such as campus lead teacher, team leader, department chair, etc...)Ability to work with and lead adult learnersEffective interpersonal skills (such as building rapport, actively listening, and giving/receiving feedback)Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writingIn-depth knowledge of content and instructional practices in specified content area(s)/grade levelsExperience with developing and delivering professional learningTechnological proficiency with productivity and learning management system toolsData analysis skillsMaster's degree in related instructional field preferredMajor Responsibilities and DutiesInstructional and Program ManagementMeets with individual teachers and teams on an ongoing basis to collaboratively analyze, personalize, design, apply, and evaluate student learning.Deepens teachers' content knowledge and understanding of content standards and district curriculum/unit plans.Models how to use the district curriculum/unit plans to plan instruction and assessment for all learners.Develops teachers' understanding of vertical alignment of curriculum.Develops teachers' capacity to meet the needs of diverse student populations.Shares with campus staff research, best practices, resources, instructional technology tools, and/or emerging trends aligned with district curriculum and beliefs.Builds teachers' capacity to utilize a variety of data to make informed decisions about instructional practices and high-impact strategies.Engages teachers in the coaching cycle to achieve personalized learning goals.Supports teachers' development by co-teaching, modeling, and observing and providing feedback.Supports teachers in implementing the district curriculum/unit plans with fidelity.Additional Responsibilities:Models attitudes, behaviors, and actions that are aligned to the district and campus vision.Attends and actively participates in scheduled district instructional coach meetings and/or training and shares the learning with campus.Develops positive working relationships with district and campus staff, honoring confidentiality as appropriate.Develops capacity of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to function effectively to improve student learning.Collaborates regularly with campus leadership.Serves as a mentor for teachers.Influences change for improvement by introducing new ideas, making observations, questioning current practices, and exploring alternatives.Supports teachers in transferring and synthesizing alternatives or refinements to current practices.Models continuous learning to keep current and to be a thought-leader on the campus.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment such as personal computers and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting, occasional bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)Environment: Working irregular hours; occasional prolonged hoursMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
