Their services support companies across a wide range of industries requiring reliable and compliant international shipping, import/export management, and supply chain coordination.About the PositionThe Licensed Customs Broker will play a critical role in managing and overseeing all U.S. import and export customs compliance activities. This position ensures strict adherence to regulations set by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other government agencies while supporting the efficient movement of goods through international supply chains.Serving as the organization's subject-matter expert on customs compliance, the Customs Broker will be responsible for tariff classification, valuation, duty calculation, and the preparation and filing of customs entries. The role works closely with CBP officials, freight forwarders, carriers, and internal teams—including supply chain, finance, and compliance—to ensure accurate and timely clearance of shipments.In addition to daily customs operations, the Customs Broker will contribute to broader compliance initiatives, including internal audits, process improvements, risk management, and training related to international trade regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee all U.S. import and export customs compliance activitiesPrepare, review, and file customs entries in accordance with CBP regulationsPerform tariff classification, valuation analysis, and duty calculationsCoordinate with CBP, freight forwarders, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely shipment clearanceResolve entry discrepancies and manage documentation requirementsRespond to audits, regulatory inquiries, and compliance reviewsMaintain accurate import/export records in accordance with federal regulationsSupport internal compliance initiatives including risk assessments and process improvementsProvide guidance to leadership regarding trade policy changes, duty exposure, and compliance strategyTrain and advise internal teams on customs compliance best practicesRequirementsEducationBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or a related field preferredYears of Experience10+ years of experience in customs brokerage, international trade compliance, or global logisticsCertifications / CredentialsActive U.S. Customs Broker License (required)Project TypesImport and export customs clearanceInternational trade complianceGlobal supply chain logistics operationsProject SizeInternational shipping operations across multiple clients and global supply chainsProject LocationBased in Detroit, Michigan, supporting global logistics operationsOther RequirementsDeep understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and international trade complianceExpertise in tariff classification, valuation, and duty calculationExperience coordinating with CBP and other government agenciesAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced global trade environmentBenefitsBase Salary:$100,000 – $120,000Competitive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement planPaid time off and holidaysProfessional development opportunitiesOpportunity to work within a growing global logistics organization
