Medical Assistant I

Medical Assistant ILocation- Springhill, FL General DescriptionThe Medical Assistant I provides clinical and administrative support across multiple service lines, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Women's Health, and Laboratory services. This role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate data collection, and high-quality care delivery. Medical Assistants contribute to a positive patient experience by assisting providers with examinations, procedures, and clinical tasks while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesRoom patients, obtain vitals, collect medical histories, and prepare them for provider visitsAssist providers during exams and procedures across departmentsAccurately document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)Clean and disinfect exam rooms and manage room inventoryProcess instruments, including use of autoclaveCollect, label, and prepare lab specimens for testingCommunicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and care teamsAssist with scheduling, referrals, and patient inquiries when neededCollaborate with clinical leads and peers to improve workflows and meet performance goalsSupport quality improvement, compliance activities, and community engagementEnsure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAAPerform additional duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong customer service and communication skillsAbility to prioritize tasks, multitask, and maintain accuracyBasic knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminologyAbility to build rapport with patients of diverse backgroundsComfort working across multiple service linesProficiency in or willingness to learn EHR systems (Epic preferred)Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredGraduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program, EMT, or Paramedic programCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationMinimum 1 year of clinical experience; 3 years preferredExperience with pediatrics and adult patients strongly preferredAbility to obtain and maintain Epic certificationAbility to travel between Premier sites as needed Bonus / Preferred Skills:Experience with vaccine administration or lab drawsFamiliarity with multiple disciplines (Family Medicine, Behavioral Health, OB/Women's Health) Working Conditions & Physical RequirementsAbility to lift 20 lbs. regularly and up to 3050 lbs. occasionallySit for extended periods and frequent use of computer systemsTravel between clinic locations as neededExposure to communicable diseases and clinical environments This job description outlines key responsibilities but does not cover every task that may be required.
