18 months contractThis position is available exclusively on a direct W2 basis and does not offer visa sponsorship or transfers at this time. Location: Hybrid. Candidates can choose to work out of either our Fremont, CA or Charlotte, NC hub (2 days onsite / 3 days remote).Core ResponsibilitiesDistributed Systems Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, resilient microservices utilizing Go (Golang) to support high-concurrency web and API services.API Optimization: Build and evolve robust API layers utilizing gRPC for high-speed internal service communication and GraphQL/REST for flexible, product-facing consumption.Product Engineering Execution: Partner closely with front-end, digital commerce, and hardware/IoT engineering teams to map out complex business logic, transactional data integrity, and dynamic state-machine flows.Infrastructure as Code & Pipelines: Own the lifecycle of your services by deploying, containerizing, and orchestrating services via Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), and AWS cloud native tools (ECS, Lambda, API Gateway).Technical Roadmap Leadership: Spearhead architecture reviews, establish engineering best practices, enforce strict error-handling protocols, and mentor mid-level developers within the team.Technical Toolkit RequirementsPrimary Language: Deep production-level expertise in Go (Golang) is required. Secondary proficiency in Java or Python is a strong plus.APIs & Protocols: Proven hands-on delivery utilizing gRPC (Protocol Buffers) and GraphQL, alongside standard REST API architectures.Microservices & Ecosystems: Strong background in microservices design patterns, distributed consensus models, and third-party partner system integrations.Cloud & DevOps: Active experience with AWS infrastructure, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), CI/CD integration (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and container orchestration via Docker & Kubernetes.Databases: Practical proficiency handling relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL storage systems (MongoDB, DynamoDB).Qualifications & ExperienceExperience Baseline: 7+ years of dedicated backend software engineering experience, with a heavy emphasis on large-scale distributed systems, fintech, or digital commerce scaling.Leadership Vector: Demonstrated capability to anchor technical workstreams, bridge cross-functional dependencies, and clearly articulate technical architecture to non-technical stakeholders.Domain Context: Experience within digital product engineering, e-commerce cart orchestration, vehicle configuration flows, or IoT/connected hardware systems is highly desirable (e.g., backgrounds from high-scale transactional applications or connected vehicle systems).Education: BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
