Verify onboarding paperwork for completeness and accuracy. Track completion of required training modules, certifications, and documentation. Provide logistical and administrative support during orientation sessions (does not independently lead presentations). Maintain attendance records and training checklists. HOS Log Review & Compliance Perform daily ELD/HOS log reviews and required log edits. Identify compliance violations, trends, and recurring driver errors. Document findings clearly and consistently. Escalate violations and concerns to appropriate leadership for counseling or next steps. Collaborate with other team members to manage shared log review workload. CDL Road Testing Conduct CDL road tests for driver applicants and newly hired drivers. Evaluate driver safety behaviors, vehicle control, and regulatory compliance. Independently determine pass/fail outcomes. Provide written documentation supporting failed road tests. Deliver coaching-style performance feedback following each evaluation. Documentation & Escalation Maintain organized, audit-ready training and testing records. Submit consolidated training and testing updates to the Safety Supervisor. Follow established reporting structure for all escalations. Ensure compliance with DOT and company documentation standards. Qualifications & Work Experience Valid CDL-A required. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or related coursework preferred. 25 years of experience in trucking operations, safety, compliance, or fleet operations. Working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and HOS regulations required. Experience reviewing ELD logs strongly preferred. Experience conducting CDL road tests preferred. Experience with transportation technology platforms (e.g., Tenstreet, Geotab, Netradyne or similar systems) preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required. Ability to create and maintain tracking spreadsheets and training records. Strong written documentation skills. Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Clear written communication and reporting skills. Calm coaching approach with ability to maintain firm standards. Ability to manage daily volume and repetitive follow-up tasks. Comfortable operating within defined policies, procedures, and escalation paths. Organizational and time-management skills. Professional judgment in safety-related decisions. Physical Demands The position requires the ability to safely operate commercial motor vehicles during road tests and to repeatedly enter/exit trucks and trailers throughout the day. The employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, including prolonged seated driving during evaluations. The role involves frequent computer use for documentation and log reviews, requiring sustained keyboarding and screen time. Occasional bending, reaching, and light lifting of materials up to approximately 25 pounds (e.g., training materials or equipment) may be required. The employee must also be able to work outdoors at times and tolerate varying weather conditions while conducting driver assessments. Work Environment This position splits time between an office environment, training classroom, and outdoor yard or road environment while conducting driver evaluations. The role regularly works around moving vehicles, equipment, and varying weather conditions. The position requires close interaction with drivers and operational personnel and adherence to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.
