Engineering Manager, Infrastructure
Overview
As Engineering Manager, you lead one of CLEAR's Infrastructure teams to build, operate, and scale a cloud-based platform that underpins services with reliability, performance, and security. You partner with cross-functional teams to execute a roadmap for cloud infrastructure and platform reliability initiatives. You drive automation and architectural decisions to deliver highly available systems at scale. ResponsibilitiesHire, coach, and develop engineering talent with performance management and career planningSet goals, provide feedback, and foster accountability across the teamOwn and execute the cloud infrastructure and platform reliability roadmapDesign, build, and operate scalable, secure, highly available cloud infrastructureDrive automation for provisioning, deployment, and operations to reduce manual workEstablish best practices for reliability, observability, incident response, and disaster recoveryCollaborate with engineering teams to improve pipelines, operability, and production readinessProvide technical leadership with clear architectural decisions and risk trade-offsOwn operational excellence through metrics, SLAs/SLOs, and cost optimization
Key requirements3+ years in managing and developing software engineers with coaching and leadershipStrong experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and release engineeringDeep knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and distributed systemsHands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi)Expertise in Kubernetes and large-scale container orchestrationExperience designing for high availability and operational resilienceProficiency in at least one modern language (Python or Java) and solid software fundamentalsExperience with observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) and incident managementAbility to collaborate cross-functionally and influence adoption of best practicesStrong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skillsCurious, proactive, and committed to continuous learningcross-functional collaborationclear communicationstakeholder managementAWSCI/CD systemsInfrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi)
