Title:High School Science TeacherReports to:PrincipalTerms of Employment:10 MonthsSupervisesN/ASalary:State SalaryJob SummaryA High School Science Teacher in North Carolina is responsible for teaching science courses such as Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, or Earth/Environmental Science to students in grades 9-12. The teacher develops lesson plans aligned with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) standards and prepares students to meet state learning objectives and graduation requirements.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver science lessons aligned with North Carolina Standard Course of Study.Teach high school science subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Environmental Science.Prepare instructional materials, demonstrations, and laboratory experiments.Maintain a safe and organized science laboratory environment.Evaluate student progress using assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects.Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades.Use technology and digital tools to support instruction.Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.Communicate regularly with parents, administrators, and staff.Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school programs.Follow all district and state policies regarding education and safety.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Science Education or a related science field.Valid North Carolina Professional Educator's License issued by the North Carolina State Board of Education.Certification in secondary science (Grades 9-12).Knowledge of science curriculum and laboratory safety practices. Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Science or Education.Previous teaching experience at the high school level.Experience integrating technology into science instruction.
