Department: SurveyLocation: Spartanburg, SCDescriptionThe Surveyor is responsible for performing field measurements and layout to support construction activities and ensure work is completed in accordance with project plans and specifications. This role collects and verifies data, establishes control points, and communicates accurate information to field teams. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret plans are essential for success in this role.ResponsibilitiesPerform site topographic surveys using GPS rovers and robotic total stationsConduct construction layout, including utilities, earthwork, foundations, and other project-specific stakingComplete level loops and/or traverse loops to verify control elevations and coordinatesExecute construction as‑built surveys for project closeout documentationOperate survey equipment for machine control setup, calibration, and verificationIndependently manage field tasks on assigned projects; higher levels may support multiple crews or larger scopesPerform site calibrations and ensure control networks are accurate and up to dateTroubleshoot GPS, robotic total stations, and machine control issues as neededUnderstand project scopes and communicate survey requirements, findings, and issues to project teamsWork with field and office teams to support survey planning, scheduling, and executionProvide technical support related to survey methods, equipment, and workflowsTrain team members on company survey standards, field procedures, and office practicesSupport maintaining safe work environments in accordance with company and site safety policiesAdapt to changing project phases, schedules, and field conditions.Work productively to meet deadlines while ensuring accuracy and quality of survey deliverablesTravel frequently to job sites as required (up to ~75%).Maintain professional communication with project managers, clients, and team membersQualificationsBuild and maintain 3D models utilizing Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD for layout and machine controlAssist with drafting survey as‑builts and closeout submittalsLead survey operations on larger projects, coordinating tasks, personnel, and equipmentAssist or oversee the management of field crews and schedulesBachelor’s Degree preferredAutoCAD experience preferred3+ years of experience in Construction Survey or a related fieldWillingness to travel and work at various locations as neededSelf-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivityBenefitsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchPTO, holidays, and a paid winter shutdownProfessional development & career growth opportunitiesSupportive team environment in a respected, growing company
