Job DescriptionESS Clinical is seeking a School Services School American Sign Language for a local contract job in Savannah, Georgia.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: American Sign LanguageDiscipline: School ServicesStart Date: 08/04/2026Duration: 20 weeksEmployment Type: Local ContractESS Clinical is currently hiring compassionate, skilled, and student-focused Educational Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) to support Savannah Chatham County Public Schools for 2026-2027!\n\nPay starting at $48/hr\n\nEssential Responsibilities\n\n\n\tProvide accurate ASL/English interpretation and transliteration services for students in educational settings\n\tInterpret classroom instruction, discussions, testing, assemblies, and extracurricular activities\n\tSupport communication access while maintaining professional interpreting standards and ethics\n\tCollaborate with educational teams regarding student accommodations and communication needs\n\tMaintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and school district policies\n\tAttend staff meetings, trainings, IEP meetings, and professional development as required\n\tMaintain documentation and compliance requirements according to district and state guidelines\n\tFoster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students\n\n\nMinimum Requirements\n\nCandidates must meet Georgia state requirements for Educational Interpreters, including:\n\n\n\tHigh school diploma or equivalent required\n\tBachelor’s degree preferred (or required depending on certification pathway)\n\tFluency in American Sign Language (ASL)\n\tPrevious school-based or pediatric interpreting experience preferred\n\tStrong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills\n\tAbility to work effectively with students, staff, and families\n\n\nGeorgia State Certification & Licensure Requirements\n\nUnder the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC), Educational Interpreters working in Georgia public schools must hold a valid Georgia Educational Interpreter License.\n\nQualified candidates must meet one of the following:\n\n\n\tPass the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a score of 3.5 or higher.\n\n\nAdditional Georgia requirements may include:\n\n\n\tGaPSC Educational Interpreter License\n\tBackground check and fingerprint clearance\n\tCompletion of district onboarding requirements\n\tContinuing education/professional development for license renewal\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n\n\tRID Certification (NIC, CI/CT, or equivalent)\n\tEIPA score of 4.0+ preferred\n\tPrior K–12 educational interpreting experience\n\tKnowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and Deaf education supports\n\tExperience working with students with varying communication modalities\n\n\nCompensation & Benefits\n\nESS Clinical offers:\n\n\n\tCompetitive weekly compensation\n\tFlexible placement opportunities\n\tW-2 and 1099 opportunities (district dependent)\n\tDedicated recruiter and operations support\n\tProfessional development and ongoing support\n\tAccess to school-based opportunities throughout Georgia \nESS Clinical Job ID #4469.
