This ongoing opportunity offers a flexible schedule starting as soon as possible (ASAP) and is ideal for experienced PAs seeking a locum tenens position. Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care to adult patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery within a Level II Trauma Center. Conduct thorough patient histories, perform physical examinations, diagnose surgical needs, and develop effective care plans. Assist surgeons in the operating room with a variety of cardiovascular procedures, including first assist duties. Manage invasive lines, chest tubes, and other critical aspects of patient care. Round on patients in the inpatient setting, monitoring their progress and addressing any postoperative concerns. Collaborate effectively with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Participate in a rotating call schedule, including weekend and evening call coverage. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within the Epic electronic medical record system. Qualifications: Active and unrestricted New York (NY) license to practice medicine as a Physician Assistant at the time of application. National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification is mandatory. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required. Minimum of two years of experience working in a cardiovascular surgery setting is preferred (new graduates not eligible). Strong clinical judgment, decision-making skills, and a comprehensive knowledge base in cardiovascular surgery. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare teams in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality patient care throughout the surgical continuum.
