This role applies advanced engineering judgment to field evidence, analytical modeling, and reconstruction methodologies to produce clear, defensible conclusions for clients and legal proceedings.This is a highly client-facing role. The ARC PE serves as a trusted technical advisor, represents us in legal settings, and plays a visible role in high stakes matters. In addition to leading investigations, this position serves as a technical leader within the Accident Reconstruction discipline, mentoring Associate Engineers and upholding the firm’s standards for quality, ethics, and professional practice.What You’ll DoLead forensic accident reconstruction projects from assignment through final deliverablesConduct scene inspections, vehicle examinations, and evidence evaluationsCollect, document, and interpret physical evidence using modern field technologies including 3D scanning, drones, photogrammetry, and digital documentation toolsPerform engineering analyses using accepted reconstruction methodologies, simulation tools, and analytical modeling techniquesIntegrate field data, physical evidence, and analytical results into coherent, defensible conclusionsPrepare, review, and approve technical reports and visual exhibits for clarity, accuracy, and legal defensibilityServe as the primary technical point of contact for assigned clients and casesPresent findings in client meetings, depositions, and courtroom testimony when requiredMentor and guide Associate Engineers through coaching, feedback, and technical oversightEnsure compliance with professional engineering standards, licensure requirements, ethical obligations, and legal requirementsParticipate in ongoing training, mentorship initiatives, and professional developmentTravel regionally for investigations, meetings, and court appearancesWhat Makes You Successful in This RoleTechnical & Analytical StrengthDeep understanding of vehicle dynamics, crash mechanics, and physics-based reconstruction principlesStrong working knowledge of reconstruction methodologies, simulation tools, and analytical modeling techniquesAbility to apply sound engineering judgment in complex or ambiguous scenariosConsistent production of defensible conclusions that withstand technical and legal scrutinyField Investigation & Evidence HandlingKnowledge of scene documentation standards, measurement techniques, and evidence preservationFamiliarity with chain-of-custody principles and forensic evidence handling requirementsAbility to conduct on-site investigations and operate field equipment in varied environmental conditionsCommunication & Client InteractionAbility to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiencesConfidence and professionalism in client meetings, depositions, and courtroom settingsStrong relationship-building skills with attorneys, clients, and internal teamsLeadership & ProfessionalismExperience mentoring or guiding junior engineersCommitment to engineering ethics, professional standards, and quality expectationsQualificationsB.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (Master’s preferred)Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience, including accident reconstruction or forensic analysisActive Professional Engineer (P.E.) licenseDemonstrated expertise in accident reconstruction methodologies and engineering analysisStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to travel and perform fieldwork involving outdoor environments and equipment handlingProfessional GrowthOngoing technical training and skill developmentOpportunities to expand expert witness experienceExposure to advanced investigative technologies and methodologies • Mentorship and leadership development opportunitiesWhy This Role Is UniqueThis role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer who wants to practice at the highest level of forensic accident reconstruction while mentoring developing engineers and representing a nationally respected firm in complex legal matters.
