Assistant Highway Engineer
DescriptionWe consider all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, marital status, or any other legally protected status. • Direct and supervise engineering subordinates engaged in survey, inspections, design, and construction of highway engineering projects to ensure proper engineering and project procedures, by conducting on sight inspections, reviewing reports, and conferring with subordinates. • Assesses construction and design progress of all highway and bridge projects to provide information for project planning by meeting and conferring with the County Highway Engineer on a daily basis. • Reviews the progress of construction and design projects on a regular basis, and evaluates five year program needs, so that departmental cost and time projections are monitored, by applying skills and experience in civil engineering. Salary Range$89,003 - $124,509 Requirements• Modern methods and techniques of civil engineering as applied to the design, construction, and maintenance of highway and related fields. • Analytic Geometry and Calculus as needed to solve and apply complex engineering problems. • Land and engineering survey systems, methods, and techniques. • Familiarity with: o Law and regulation relating to the planning and construction of highways and related facilities. o Geomorphological formations as they apply to construction, operations; before or during construction. • Ability to assign and supervise technical engineering personnel. Minimum Qualifications• College or Technical School training in Civil Engineering field, with 3-5 years work experience in the Civil Engineering field. • Hold current certification as a Level II (highest) MN/DOT certified Construction Technician in the areas of Bituminous Street, Concrete Field, Grading and Base, Bridge Construction and/or Design of SWPP Concrete Plant and Storm Water Management.
