Summary:
The Frontend Developer will lead the development and continuous improvement of user interfaces for SAMHSA’s public-facing data tools, including the NSDUH Small Area Estimates (SAE) Visualization and Quick Statistics modules. This position is central to enabling user access to national behavioral health data via modern, interactive web experiences that comply with US Web Design System (USWDS) and federal accessibility standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and enhance frontend components using React.js, Node.js, JQuery, Bootstrap, and D3.js for the SAE Visualization platform and Quick Statistics tools.
Integrate dynamic web interfaces with backend services via REST APIs built in Express, Django, and Rserve.
Implement visualizations using GeoJSON, TopoJSON, and GDAL-prepared shapefiles.
Ensure full Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 compliance across all visual layers.
Support web containerization and builds using Docker, Webpack, and Nginx.
Participate in Agile sprints, including code reviews, unit testing, and stakeholder demos.
Align all UI/UX with SAMHSA branding, USWDS, and HHS/OC coordination

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
