Essential Position at FacilityThis position is an Essential position at the facility to ensure efficient operations and patient care. Employees hired into an Essential position are expected to report to work for their scheduled shifts regardless of the environmental weather and road conditions that may exist.Position Duties and ResponsibilitiesA certified nursing assistant helps patients with direct health care needs, often under the supervision of a nurse. CNAs work directly with patients and the nursing staff, helping with many physical and complex tasks for patient's activities of daily living and monitoring and reporting health changes to other staff.Some of their responsibilities include:Turning and moving patientsGathering medical suppliesBathing patientsGrooming patients by brushing their hair, teeth, shaving, etc.Feeding patients and documenting their food and liquid intakeChecking vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rateAnswering patient callsDocumenting informationCleaning rooms and bed linensStocking suppliesAssisting with some medical proceduresSafety proceduresTransporting patientsFacility General ResponsibilitiesAttend facility new hire orientation as scheduled by HRComplete Department Orientation Initial Competency within 7 days of hire dateComplete Department Initial Skills Competency within 90 days of hire dateFollow facility and OSHA safety rules and proceduresRespect cultural and religious practices of patients from all backgroundsFollow HIPAA regulations at all timesBe punctual and dependable for assigned shiftsDress within the dress code requirements of the facilityIdentifies all patients using at least two identifiers verbally (name and DOB), and by checking ID braceletFollows Hospital Wide and Department Specific policies and proceduresMust interact with physicians, guest, staff, and patients pleasantly, cooperatively, and effectivelyKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCertified nursing assistants help perform critical tasks that ensure patients are well-cared for and safe during their hospital stay. Checking vital signs, keeping patients clean, and other duties like this are extremely important for patient care and satisfaction. CNAs are extremely involved in the daily routines of the patients and are often the first to notice small changes that could help identify health issues before they become problematic, making them a critical part of the healthcare team.Position Requirements: Education, Work Experience, Licensure, CertificationsA high school diploma or equivalent and a State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification is required.
